Registration & Badge Collection

Overseas buyers (境外采购商): register on cantonfair.org.cn (free). Collect your badge at the airport or Pazhou. Badges are free — ignore “fees”. No pre-reg = long lines (often ~2 hours).

Follow signs to metro / bus / taxi queue. Ignore touts — common scam.

How to Verify Chinese Suppliers

A fair booth is not proof a company is real. Check the legal entity on Qichacha (or similar) before you send money.

注册资本 — Registered Capital
Serious exporters often show ¥500k+. ¥10k–50k alone is a weak signal — dig deeper.
成立日期 — Establishment Date
5+ years is usually safer. <1 year = extra checks.
经营状态 — Business Status
Must be 存续 (Active). 注销 / 吊销 = stop — do not pay.
股东信息 — Shareholders
Lots of recent ownership changes → ask why.
司法风险 — Legal / Court Cases
Debt / contract cases → pause the deal until you understand them.
经营异常 — Business Anomalies
Government "abnormal operation" flags → treat as high risk.

Payment Safety & China's FX Rules

Paying is where most people get hurt: scams, stuck money, or a frozen supplier account. China watches inbound business payments (FX + anti–money laundering). Use paths that are licensed and easy to prove in a contract / invoice.

Informal / parallel FX: money can be held, returned, or frozen on the China side if the bank cannot match it to clean trade docs. Many serious factories simply say no to unclear inflows.

Wrong goods, late shipment, or silence after payment → act fast. Use this order.

WeChat or email: what is wrong + what you want (replace / refund / credit). Short, polite, in writing. Many issues close here.

Section 3.2

7 Reasons Nigerians Get Rejected

Officers rarely say the exact "why". These are the usual traps for Nigerian applicants:

✗Weak bank story
Show steady funds (~₦5m / $3k USD level) over 3+ months. A huge last-minute top-up often looks bad.
✗Messy or half-empty form
Every box filled. Names / dates / passport number = exact match to the passport page.
✗Hotel dates ≠ flights
Book every night in China. Side trip (Yiwu / Shenzhen)? Add hotels there too.
✗Weak "why China" proof
Always add Canton Fair reg + CAC + any real supplier chats / invoices.
✗Past overstay / violation
Declare truthfully. Lying can mean a long ban, not just a "no" this time.
✗New blank passport
Add extra trade proof. A clear invitation letter from a Chinese company helps.
✗Wrong photo specs
Use a proper studio. Selfies / coloured backgrounds often get you sent away at the window.

Nigerian Departure Rules

Nigeria exit: NCS + CBN rules below.

Not sure? Declare. Fines, lost goods, or bans cost more than a few extra questions at the desk.

WeChat or Alipay → Mini Programs → search 12367 (official immigration mini app). Fill the arrival card there — free, usually faster than paper at the counter.

Google / WhatsApp / IG are blocked in China. Install and log into WeChat + Alipay (and backups below) in Nigeria — app stores on the ground are painful.
